Pure and Simple Worship Conference

Not just for musicians and worship leaders!

Nope! If you just love worship, come on!

The concept is simple… help the church bring meaningful worship to the Lord without pretense and with all glory going to Him. Every year, the Pure and Simple Worship Conference brings together worship leaders, team members, volunteers and simple worshipers for a couple days of encouragement, inspiration and education. The hope is that inspired leaders will return to their home congregations to lead inspired times of adoration and praise.

About Our Presenters:

Terry Michaels: Terry has been with Calvary Austin since 2009. His family came to Texas to plant Calvary Chapel of the Springs in San Marcos. He served as youth pastor at Calvary Chapel Siegen in Germany and at Calvary Chapel in San Bernardino California. Terry loves to write and has several books published. He married Christy in 1980.

Virginia Garcia: Longtime pianist and organist for Chuck Smith at Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa. Virginia has a background of classical piano studies and has also studied improvisation. She has released an album of originals on the Sony record label, and she’s worked alongside some of CCM’s best through the years. Virginia served as a Sunday morning musician at Costa Mesa for 16 years before coming to Central Texas.

Barry Bynum: Texas-born singer/songwriter and guitarist Barry Bynum launched his career with a series of garage rock bands in the 1980s. His greatest work, however, has come through the spiritual tunes that he’s favored since becoming a born-again Christian as a teenager. During a five-year stay in Belfast, Ireland, he led a rock music service at an urban church. Bynum has been drawn to music from earliest memory. He claims that he “could play the ‘uke before I could stay up well on a bike.” Forming a band, Liberation Suite, in San Marcos, at the age of 16, he built a solid following in the British Isles and Europe. Following the breakup of the band in the early ’90s, Bynum and his wife moved to Belfast, where he launched a solo career. While residing in the war-torn Irish city, he recorded two albums: Stickin’ Your Neck Out, which he recorded with Irish musicians, and To You, which combined live recordings and studio tracks. Bynum and his wife returned to Texas in 2001.

Todd Perry:

Caleb Flores: Caleb has been attending Calvary Austin since 2009, and leading worship for Grace Vineyard Church in south Austin during 2015 and 2016. He’s been blessed with opportunities to lead worship for various churches over the past 6 years, and he’s currently the worship intern at Calvary Austin.

Scot Vessel: Scot Vessell grew up playing punk and blues in St. Louis, is a Desert Storm veteran, and now is raising his family in the Austin area. He plays in various Praise & Worship ensembles in Austin and San Antonio. Scot’s also a bass and music-theory educator, as well as bassist at large in many venues in Central and Coastal Texas. Scot’s heart belongs to leading such ministries as men’s discipleship, men’s Bible study, praise and worship, and children’s worship.

Laura Meeker: Laura enjoys worshipping the Lord in singing and playing instruments and with the songs He gives her to share. She began helping lead worship in chapel in high school at Calvary Academy, in Springfield, IL, and has continued to since then, and as God opens doors, will from this day forward. Inspired, Laura set out to become a music teacher, taught in public and private schools, and currently owns Make a Joyful Noise School of Music. She’s been with the Calvary Austin worship team since 2012 and continues to lead worship in both English and Spanish services.

Josh FloresJosh has been producing and engineering music since 2008, and has been attending Calvary Austin since 2009. He’s been blessed to record and produce various well known artist from all over the United States for the past 5 years. When he’s not producing music, he fronts the alternative Indie christian rock band called Shadow Of Whales.
